Fieldwork

We facilitate the participation of early-career researchers in international conferences, including at the University of Cambridge and in Los Angeles, and provide support for research fieldwork at home and abroad.

Participation in International Conferences 

As tensions in the continue to rise across the world, the importance of global cooperation has never been greater. KCS actively supports the participation of young researchers in international conferences. Engaging in discussions and participating in social gatherings in an international academic environment from an early stage is crucial for building a future academic career and a global professional network.

By interacting with graduate students from abroad, we aim to expand their options for studying or researching abroad and help them to cultivate a global perspective. KCS supports the next generation of researchers as they make their mark on the global stage.

Fieldwork & Research Support

KCS actively supports young researchers in conducting fieldwork and research both in Japan and abroad. In addition to research guidance from experts in various fields, KCS provides travel grants and support for research planning, creating an environment where young researchers can conduct their fieldwork unhindered.

By creating an environment where young researchers can focus on their work, KCS aims to ensure that their findings contribute to the development of society.

Book Review

KCS Book review

Keio Center for Strategy (KCS) features book reviews written by postdoctoral researchers and graduate students, introducing essential literature on a wide range of fields, including international politics, strategy, national security, geopolitics, history and emerging technologies (including AI).
We explore both classics and recent academic publications, providing explanations of their content, significance, and places in their respective fields.

We offer information designed to help not only researchers and practitioners, but also anyone interested in deepening their understanding of these fields. Recognizing the scarcity of opportunities in Japan for the in-depth study and discussion of national security and strategy, we aim to play a unique role in this field.
