[Event Report] KCS Expert Roundtable (1) : "'The New Nuclear Age' and Its Implications for Japan's Security"

KCS holds KCS Expert Roundtables on an irregular basis, inviting researchers and policy experts from overseas.
On July 8, 2025, KCS held its first Experts' Roundtable of this fiscal year. We invited Mr. Ankit Panda (Senior Fellow, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace) to give a lecture titled, "'The New Nuclear Age' and Its Implications for Japan's Security."
At the roundtable, attended by 13 experts, a lively discussion was held between the lecturer and participants on topics such as: the challenges of modernizing U.S. nuclear forces, which are at a major turning point due to the increasing complexity of the nuclear order; the risks of nuclear use after deterrence failure; challenges related to extended deterrence faced by U.S. allies; the nuclear strategy of a potential second Trump administration; and recent discussions on nuclear issues within the U.S. strategic community.
