[Event Report] Luncheon and Exchange of Views Hosted by H.E. Julia Longbottom, British Ambassador to Japan
On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, H.E. Julia Longbottom, British Ambassador to Japan, hosted a “Lunch to Mark Cambridge and Keio Universities’ Academic Exchange.” Representing the Keio Center for Strategy (KCS) were Director Yuichi Hosoya, Deputy Director Michito Tsuruoka, and Project Assistant Professor Mizuki Yamamoto.
Organized to commemorate the public symposium “A New Era for the Japan-UK Strategic Partnership” held that same week, the gathering facilitated a lively exchange of views on a wide array of themes spanning foreign and domestic policy. Key topics of discussion included the trajectory of the new UK government’s Indo-Pacific policy and an analysis of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) presidential election.
Attendees from the University of Cambridge included Professor Brendan Simms, Director of the Centre for Geopolitics, and Associate Professor John Nilsson-Wright.
